AIADMK demo against lack of infrastructure at engg college

Nagapattinam, Feb 4 (PTI) AIADMK workers today staged ademonstration in front of the Anna University � Thirukuvalaicampus in the district, condemning lack of infrastructurefacilities.

The protestors alleged that the Government EngineeringCollege had been functioning in a Higher Secondary Schoolcampus for the past three years without adequateinfrastructure.

Durai Govindarajan, state President of the farmers wing ofAIADMK, led the agitation in which senior leader andMayiladuthurai MP O S Manian and former MLA Vijayabalan wereamong those participated.

Denying the charges, local DMK MP A K S Vijayan in a pressrelease said 41 acres had been acquired for the college andsix buildings, including eight air-conditioned classrooms hadalready been constructed.

Besides, buildings measuring 1.5 lakh sq ft were underconstruction at a total cost of Rs 18.1 crore.

Vijayan claimed infrastructure facilities at a total costof Rs 33 crore were being provided to the institution.
