PM to inaugurate conference of chief secretaries tomorrow

New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh willinaugurate a conference of chief secretaries tomorrow thatwill deliberate on transparency and ethics in governance andareas of concern in some flagship social sector programmes ofthe government.

The two-day conference will deliberate on areas of concernin programmes like Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojanaand Non-Conventional Energy Sources Programme, PM''s Gram SadakYojana, Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme and NationalRural Drinking Water Programme.

There will also be sessions on Internal Security andResults Framework Document(RFD) Initiative, an officialstatement said.

The Conference has institutionalised the process ofinteraction with states and union territories. It serves as astanding forum for exchange of views between the Centre andthe states. It also provides an occasion for discussion onglobal developments that have a bearing on the country as awhole and the broad contours of national policies in selectareas of relevance.

The conference also helps in ensuring an integrated andholistic approach towards development of the country.
