Munda optimistic of getting ''pending'' central funds

Ranchi, Feb 2 (PTI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Mundatoday expressed optimism that the Centre would definitelyconsider his request to release ''pending'' Rs 1,166 croremeant for backward region grant fund (BRGF) and panchayatbodies.

"During my speech at the security meeting chaired byPrime Minister Manmohan Singh in Delhi yesterday, I hadrequested to release Rs 684 crore against BRGF and Rs 482against panchayat bodies crore," Munda told newsmen on hisreturn from Delhi.

Stating that despite Maoist threat polls for thethree-tier panchayat were held peacefully which witnessed 70per cent polling, Munda said the funds would help in speedingup development in remote areas.
