HC adjourns Telgi''s petition to Monday
Bangalore, Feb 3 (PTI) The Karnataka High Court todayadjourned hearing to February seven a petition filed bymulti-crore fake stamp paper scam kingpin Abdul Karim Telgichallenging a Pune court order seeking his transfer to Yerwadajail from Bangalore to try cases filed against him byMaharastra police.
In his petition, Telgi submitted that he should not betransferred to Yerwada jail as he was undergoing treatmentfor HIV and renal failure here.
After directing the government advocate to file hisobjections to the petition, Justice B S Patil adjourned thehearing to February 7.
Telgi was sentenced to seven years Rigorous Imprisonmentby a Special Court on September 18 last year in connectionwith a case registered in the city nine years ago.
The kingpin behind the fake stamp paper racket has beenconvicted in 46 other such cases across the country, includingseven in Bangalore so far.
