Eight Naxals arrested in Chhattisgarh; sarpanch shot dead
Raipur, Feb 2 (PTI) A village sarpanch was killed byNaxals, while eight Maoists were arrested in separateincidents in Chhattisgarh''s Bijapur district today, officialssaid.
Naxals shot dead sarpanch Nohar Singh near Toanarvillage early this morning, Bijapur Additional Superintendentof Police B P S Rajbhanu told PTI by phone.
Singh was associated with Salwa Judum (anti-Maoistmovement), he said, adding after killing the sarpanch, theextremists slit his throat.
In a separate incident, a police team apprehendedeight Maoists from the Bhairamgarh and Modakpala police areaof the district, Rajbhanu added.
