BSNL engineer arrested by CBI on graft charge
Chennai, Feb 3 (PTI) A sub-divisional engineer of BSNL inTamil Nadu has been arrested by CBI on the charge of acceptinga bribe of Rs 5,000 from a contractor for an official favour.
Pandian, Sub-Divisional Engineer of BSNL, in Harur(Dharmapuri district) had allegedly demanded the bribe fromthe cable contractor for a "condonation" letter to the GeneralManager''s office for clearing his bills, a CBI release heresaid today.
On a complaint from the contractor, the CBI "laid a trap"and apprehended Pandian "red handed" as he was accepting themoney at Harur yesterday.
He was produced before CBI Special court in Coimbatorewhich remanded him to judicial custody till February 17, therelease added.
