Absconding prisoner arrested in Delhi, four cops suspended

Jammu, Feb 3 (PTI) A person, who was jailed under thePublic Safety Act last year and escaped from a hospital here,was arrested by police in New Delhi, officials said today.

Acting on information received from J&K Police, theDelhi Police arrested Rahul Gupta from ISBT, they said, addingthat a team of J&K Police has been sent to Delhi to takecustody of the prisoner.

Gupta managed to escape on February 1 while he wasbrought to the Government Medical College hospital by fourpolice personnel along with other inmates for check up.

Authorities have suspended the four policemenincluding an Assistant Sub Inspector for negligence of dutyand registered cases against them, the officials said.

The policemen - Daulat Ram, Ram Lal, Pradhman Singhand Darya Ram were arrested and later produced in the courtwhich sent them to police custody, they said.
