Tri-Valley fiasco: AP parties want Minister to go to US

Hyderabad, Feb 1 (PTI) An all-party meeting in AndhraPradesh today demanded that the State Government bringpressure on the Centre to address issues related to America''sTri-Valley University, which has duped Indian students, andsend an AP Minister to the US to deal with the matter.

The meet, attended by the representatives of rulingCongress, main Opposition Telugu Desam Party, CPI(M), CPI, LokSatta and others sought the National Human Rights Commission�sintervention in this regard.

"The State Government should constitute an effectivemachinery and consult the Central Government and send someonefrom the State Cabinet to the US to deal with the issuesrelated to Indian students," they said.

Most of the duped students are from Andhra Pradesh.

Authorities have shut down the California-based university oncharges of a massive immigration fraud. The students have beenforced to wear radio collars around their ankles so thatauthorities can keep track of their movements.

The political parties said all the students be givenadmission in other universities and their harassment shouldstop immediately.

The fee paid by the students to Tri-Valley Universityshould be refunded and necessary arrangements be made forthose willing to come back to India, they said.
