Hyderabad, Feb 2 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister NKiran Kumar Reddy today strongly condemned veteran leader GVenkataswamy''s outburst against Congress president SoniaGandhi and said he was "pained" by such nasty remarks againsttheir beloved leader.
"Since he (Venkataswamy) is a very elderly person, it isnot good for us to talk about him much but I can say we areall very much pained by his remarks against Sonia Gandhi," theChief Minister said at a hurriedly convened press conferenceat the state Secretariat here this evening.
"It was under her (Sonia''s) able leadership that theCongress could retain power both in the state and at theCentre. Besides, she was very recently unanimously re-electedas Congress president for a five-year term after having setthe record as the longest-serving chief of the party.
"Young Congress leaders like me are shocked that aveteran leader from our state chose to criticise a tall leaderlike Soniaji," he added.
Reddy also took exception to the criticism of SoniaGandhi by Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu.
"Sonia is an embodiment of high standards and moralvalues. You (Naidu) are one who betrayed your ownfather-in-law (NT Rama Rao) to become the Chief Minister whileSonia rejected the Prime Minister''s post twice," he said.
