Goa Speaker chides Home ministry for taking House''for granted''

Panaji, Feb 2 (PTI) Goa Legislative Assembly SpeakerPratapsingh Rane today censured State Home Ministry officialsfor taking the House "for granted" after Minister Ravi Naikpostponed two questions in two sessions consecutively claimingthat the reply was ''voluminous''.

"Police department needs to be more serious," Rane saidat the beginning of Question Hour today.

It will go on record of each official that they havefailed to reply to questions raised on floor of the House, hesaid.

The Speaker said the concerned officials and Secretarywill have to act more responsibly. "They cannot take the Housefor granted."

Naik had postponed the question by BJP legislatorDayanand Mandrekar about the criminal cases pending forinvestigation. BJP''s Damodar Naik had also asked aboutcriminal cases in nature pending investigation.

Both the questions were originally slated to be answeredon August 3, 2010, during the last assembly session.
