Scheduled review of security of airports held recently: PC

New Delhi, Jan 31 (PTI) The government has reviewed thesecurity of airports guarded by the CISF recently, just aftera deadly suicide attack at Moscow''s international airport.

Home Minister P Chidambaram, however, termed it as ascheduled review.

"This has nothing to do with the blast in the Domodedovoairport in Moscow. This was a scheduled review of the CISF.

And as part of that review the security situation in airportswas also reviewed," Chidambaram told reporters here.

He was asked if the government has reviewed airportsecurity in view of the Moscow attack on January 24.

Chidambaram had reviewed the operational preparedness ofthe Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) when he visitedthe headquarters of the force on January 25.

The force guards 57 airports of the country besidesnuclear and aerospace installations.

The minister, who spent almost two hours at theheadquarters, was given a presentation on the overalldeployment and responsibilities of the force at variousairports, nuclear, aerospace and oil installations, besideskey industrial units especially in Naxal-affected states.

The CISF has around 2.17 lakh personnel in its ranks andalso guards the Delhi Metro network and historical monumentslike the Taj Mahal in Agra and Red Fort in Delhi.
