New Delhi, Jan 31: The head of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi arrived in New Delhi on Monday, Jan 31. The chief Minister will meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi to discuss about the seat-sharing, while polls in Tamil Nadu round the corner.

This is the first visit of Karunanidhi to Delhi after the expose of 2G spectrum scam and resignation of then Telecom Minister A Raja.

Karunanidhi will meet Sonia and PM Manmohan Singh on Monday and will take part in the Chief Minister's Conference on Internal Security on Feb 1, and will return to Chennai on the very same day.

Karunanidhi arrived in the capital along with Union Ministers Dayanidhi Maran and Jagatratchakan, State Ministers Ponmudi and Duraimurugan and DMK Rajya Sabha member K Kanimozhi.

Karunanidhi said, "the Congress is expected to push for a hard bargain in terms of seats for the Tamil Nadu elections. The DMK did not share power in the state in 2006 and this time Congress leaders from the state are demanding their pound of flesh. At the moment the alliances in the state seem to have been almost formalised."

The prime intention of this visit is to clear the deck with Congress over the 2G spectrum scam and to start preparations for the upcoming state election in Tamil Nadu, which was scheduled in month of Apr-May.

The 2G spectrum fall out has already caused enough embarrassment for the party. Opposition parties held rallies over this issue and tried to damage the parties image in public as much as possible. Now, the possibility of Raja being arrested is haunting the party and they feared that it could escalate the 2G scam embarrassment.
