CPI-M cadres not linked to Maoists: Karat
Guwahati, Jan 30 (PTI) The CPI-M today claimed that itscadres were not linked to Maoists but were engaged ingenerating awareness and public support against the ultras inWest Bengal.
"Contrary to allegations made by Union Home MinisterP Chidambaram and other political parties, the CPI-M cadres donot have any links with the Maoists," CPI-M General SecretaryPrakash Karat said here during a party rally organised toprotest against rise of communalism and price rise.
The inquiry conducted by CRPF in Lalgarh in West Bengalfollowing the Union Home Minister''s directive had found theaffected people who had taken refuge in the camps had linkswith the Maoists and not with CPI-M cadres.
"We will fight against the evil designs of both TrinamoolCongress and the Maoists," he said.
Referring to elections in West Bengal, scheduled laterthis year, Karat claimed that the people would vote the partyback to power as it had done "great work" for them during thelast 34 years.
