Child dies after falling into open sewer

Ludhiana, Jan 30 (PTI) A seven-year-old boy today diedafter he fell into an open gutter near the Grand Trunk roadhere, police said.

A case of negligence has been registered against localcivic authorities and private company engaged in roadconstruction at the Grand Trunk road stretch, where the sewerwas located, after residents blocked the traffic, they said.

The child was riding on a scooter with his parentswhen he accidentally fell into the sewer. The body wasrecovered nearly 2 km from the spot where he had fallen, theysaid.
