Base metals rise on global cues

Mumbai, Jan 31 (PTI) Most of the base metals rose atthe non-ferrous metal market here today on renewed demand fromstockists and good industrial buying amidst bullish trend atthe London Metal Exchange (LME).

Meanwhile, brass and aluminium edged lower on subduedofftake from consumer industries.

Tin spurted by Rs 10 per kg to Rs 1,490 from lastSaturday''s closing level of Rs 1,490 and nickel firmed up byRs 5 per kg to Rs 1,300 as against Rs 1,295 previously.

Copper cable scrap, copper scrap heavy and copper wirebar gained by Rs 4 per kg each to Rs Rs 459, Rs 450 and Rs487, respectively.

Copper armiture moved up by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 438.

Copper utensils scrap, copper sheet cutting, zinc andlead all inched up by a rupee per kg each to Rs 409, Rs 430,Rs 132 and Rs 117, respectively.

However, aluminium utensils scrap eased by Rs 2 per kgto Rs 102 and brass utensils scrap softened by rupee per kgto Rs 304.
