Paediatric HIV/AIDS centre inaugurated in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Jan 29 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Health MinisterD L Ravindra Reddy today inaugurated a Centre of Excellence onpaediatric HIV/AIDS at the state-run Niloufer Children�sHospital here today.

The Regional Centre is one of the seven suchfacilities in the country and the only one in the state forthe treatment of children living with AIDS.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated theefforts of National Aids Control Organisation (NACO), AndhraPradesh State Aids Control Society (APSACS) and ClintonFoundation in setting up the exclusive centre.

The facility, equipped with advanced medicalequipment, would be of great help to those suffering fromAIDS, officials said.

It is already taking care of 1,529 people living withAIDS of which 871 are children, they added. said.
