J-K govt, police harassing our Kashmiri activists: BJP
Jammu, Jan 29 (PTI) BJP today accused the stategovernment of harassing and torturing the party''sKashmir-based activists who voluntarily participated in therecently concluded Bhartiya Ekta Yatra.
"Kashmir-based BJP activists had voluntarilyparticipated in the yatra. These young men and women from theValley are being subjected to torture and harassment by thestate authorities and police instead of being rewarded fortheir initiative to defy the dictates of militants andparticipating in mainstream nationalist activity," ChiefSpokesperson and National Executive Member Jitendra Singh toldreporters here.
Singh released the names of Kashmir-based activistswho participated in the BJYM''s yatra and alleged "they arebeen hounded and harassed for being Nationalists".
The activists are being regularly summoned to policestations on the pretext of interrogation and subjected tomental and physical torture, he alleged.
He said a BJP activist Haleema, resident of Uri, wasmissing for four days ago, but discovered yesterday with burnmarks on her body and hair trimmed and claimed that she wasunder police custody during this period.
