Central prison to come up at Gobichettipalayam

Erode, Jan 30 (PTI): A Central prison will be constructedby the state jail department at Gopichettipalayam in thedistrict at a cost of Rs 1.44 crore, according to a top jailofficial.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting ongoing work,Murugesan, Superintendent of Central Prison, Coimbatore saidall necessary work would be completed in a month after whichall convicts of Erode district who are now taken toCoimbatore, would be lodged in the new premises.

He said the facility could accomodate 200 prisoners andwould have a video conferencing hall, visitors� hall andlibrary.
