Delhi CM condoles demise of Pt Bhimsen Joshi

New Delhi, Jan 24 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister SheilaDikshit today condoled the demise of legendary vocalist PanditBhimsen Joshi, saying he used to create magic with his uniquegolden voice.

Describing the death of the 87-year-old Hindustaniclassical vocalist as an irreparable loss, Dikshit said he wasknown for the intensity and passion of his singing.

Lifetime achievement award was bestowed on Pt Joshi bythe city government in 2010. He was also the recipient of thecountry''s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna.

Joshi, the most-celebrated exponent of ''Kiranagharana'' of Khansahib Abdul Karim Khan, passed away at ahospital in Pune today after a prolonged illness.
