Toddy movement to tap and sell toddy in Arachalur tomorrow

Erode, Jan 20 (PTI) The Tamil Nadu Toddy Movement (TNTM)has said it will go ahead with its plan of tapping and sellingtoddy tomorrow in Arachalur, 20 km from here.

�Toddy is not injurious to health, as it contains minimumintoxication and also it is of the cheap variety," TNTMPresident C Nallasamy told reporters.

The TNTM had on December 31 last year announced itsintention to tap and sell toddy in Arachalur in protestagainst the ban on sale of the product, imposed by the stategovernment 34 years ago.

Nallasamy questioned why the state government refused tolift the ban on toddy even while allowing the sale of thehighly intoxicated IMFL varieties in Tamilnadu.
