Non-UPA,non-NDA parties meet to decide on stir over price rise

Bangalore, Jan 19 (PTI) Eleven non-UPA, non-NDA politicalparties are likely to chalk-out a week-long agitationalprogramme to protest price rise and highlight corruptionissues, JD-S, a constituent of the group said today.

JD-S would have no representative at the meeting, whichwill take place in Delhi tomorrow, as the party has itsnational council and plenary session here, but has conveyed tothe CPM leader Prakash Karat that it would fully back thedecision that would be taken, party Secretary General DanishAli said here.

"BJP has no moral right to fight corruption," he toldreporters tonight.

JD-S held the last meeting of its outgoing nationalexecutive today discussing draft socio-political, economic andKarnataka-specific political resolutions.

Party leaders said former Prime Minister H D Devegowda isset to be elected as National President unopposed tomorrow, as16 state units have proposed his name and there are no othercontenders.

Ali charged the BJP Government in Karnataka with"destroying the institutions of Legislature and the Speaker",and now trying to "intimidate the institution of Raj Bhavan",an apparent reference to today''s state Cabinet resolutionasking the Governor not to permit prosecution of ChiefMinister B S Yeddyurappa over alleged land scams.

The meeting is likely to be attended by CPI(M), CPI, RSP,Forward Bloc, BJD, AIADMK, RLD, SP and TDP.
