Issues of land ownership, green regulations in Adarsh: Verma

New Delhi, Jan 19 (PTI) Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Vermatoday said apart from being a security threat, issues such asownership of land and violation of environmental regulationswere also attached to the scam-tainted Adarsh Housing Societybuilding in Mumbai.

"There are many more issues involved in it with respectto the very title of the land and violation of environmentalregulations," he told reporters here.

The Navy chief was asked if the building was a securitythreat.

Asked to comment on the Environment Ministry''srecommendation to demolish the building for violating coastalregulations, Verma said, "These are issues under the purviewof court and civil administration."

The 31-storey building is allegedly constructed on aplot within Navy''s security zone in Mumbai and the WesternNaval Commander had also termed it as a security threat to thebase there.

A CBI probe is already under progress and is looking atthe role of senior retired and serving officers, includingthree former Services chiefs.
