Tourists flock to Kaziranga National Park
Golaghat (Assam), Jan 18 (ANI): India's famous Kaziranga National Park (KNP) in Assam has created a niche for itself, as thousands of tourists thronged the wildlife sanctuary most famous for the one-horned rhinoceros.
According to the park officials, evening safaris in the park has caused Kaziranga to receive an overwhelming number of overseas as well as domestic tourists.
"From past three years, tourists are increasing in Kaziranga. We tried our best to give best service to satisfy our tourists. We ourselves drive and also serve as tourist guides. Our ultimate aim is to satisfy all our tourists by rendering best service," said Punen Gogoi, President, Jeep Safari Association.
The increase of tourists has also opened employment opportunities to local youths as well as small entrepreneurs, who serve as guides.
Kaziranga is home to a vast number of common and endangered species of wildlife.
"We have not seen so many animals at one given time, that too real, live for eyes as compare to other places where we keep hunting, and we hardly see any animal. Here there are available in plenty and it's a good chance to - it's like hand-touch away and you feel nice about seeing the rare animals here," said Amarjeet Singh, a tourist.
The main attractions of the national park are the one-horned rhinoceros, wild buffalo, elephant, tiger, bear and a variety of deer.
The Kaziranga Park is also home to birds like the Crested Serpent Eagle, Pella's Fishing Eagle, the Grey Headed Fishing Eagle, the Bengal Florican, black-necked stork, and many more. (ANI)
