Tableau on �Buddhist Heritage in Gujarat� at R-Day Parade

Gandhinagar, Jan 17 (PTI) The tableau of the state forthe Republic Day parade to be held in New Delhi will be basedon the theme of �Buddhist Heritage in Gujarat�.

The tableau tries to portray the rich heritage ofBuddhism present in the various form across Gujarat, anofficial release said.

The tableau displays a replica of 4th Century Buddhastatue found in Dev-ni-mori of the state, along with theBuddhist �mudras� (symbols) found at Vadnagar.

In the rear end of the tableau is a model ofKhanbhalida Cave found near Rajkot, with sculptures of Buddha,Varadtara, Dharanmata and Vrajpani.

While a group of monks will be walking in front of thetableau, humming the tune ''Buddham Sharanam Gachchami''. PTI PD
