Key witness in Israeli drug leader case threatened
Panaji, Jan 18 (PTI) A prime witness in Israeli drugdealer David Driham alias Dudu case today filed a complaintwith the Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) that he was being threatenedto withdraw from the case.
The witness, whose identity is kept confidential, in aletter to ANC and Deputy Inspector General of Police RavindraYadav, has said that some unknown persons had threatened himcouple of days before.
The incident occurred when he was on his way back homewhen motorcycle-borne youths threatened him.
"They told me to withdraw from the case," the witnesssaid.
Dudu was arrested from Anjuna in February 2011 by a teamof ANC officials for possessing large amount of drugs.
Police have already filed a charge-sheet against him inthe Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) courtin Mapusa town.
The witness has now sought police protection for him andhis family.
"I am afraid as those who threatened me know where Ilive. They can harm my family," he has said in the letter.
DIG Yadav was not available for the comment.
