Hearing on Dutt''s plea against seizure of property adjourned

Mumbai, Jan 18 (PTI) The Bombay High Court todayadjourned hearing in the appeal filed by actor Sanjay Duttchallenging attachment of two of his properties in connectionwith a financial dispute with producer Shakeel Noorani tillFebruary 21.

Noorani''s lawyer sought time to file their reply to theappeal and assured the court they would not take any furthersteps in the case till the actor''s appeal is decided by thecourt.

On December 29, last year, Dutt''s Pali Hill residentialflat was placed under attachment while a notice was pasted onhis office premises at Mayfair building in suburban Santacruz.

Noorani had claimed Rs 2.03 crore back from the actor,which includes Rs 50 lakh paid to Dutt as a signing amount foran under-production film ''Jaan Ki Baazi''. He alleged Dutt didnot give dates for shooting, so the film remained incompletecausing a loss of Rs 1.53 crore. The producer had approachedIndian Motion Pictures Producers'' Association (IMPPA) forarbitration.

IMPPA passed order in Noorani''s favour on January 28 lastyear and applied to High Court for execution of a decreefollowing which the execution department of the High courtdirected attachment of the actor''s properties.
