Lack of preparation causes Sabarimala stampede?

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 16: There are speculations about the cause of the Sabrimala stampede which occurred on Friday night (Jan 14). But several instances unearthed that lack of proper preparations from the Kerala government's part caused the Sabrimala stampede which killed more than 104 pilgrims and injured other 60.

Rescue operation at the place also faced tremendous hazards over the improper facilities. Sources said that only three policemen have been appointed there to take care of the 3 lakh pilgrims.

Sources also said that rescue work was hampered over lack of communication facilities, risky road and lack of proper management team.

The state government has not even made a toilet or provided drinking water felicities at the Pullumedu where more than thousands of pilgrims visit every year.

The stampede occurred in 'Pulmedu', traditional forest trekking path used mostly by devotees from Tamil Nadu to reach the hill shrine of Lord Ayyaappa. There are different rumors about the root cause of the incident.

Some media reported that one of the reason was a jeep lost control and ran to pilgrims, which resulted in clash with the pilgrims and jeep travelers. The chaos and confusion later lead to the stampede.
