UP govt seeks credentials of doctor who examined Kanpur minor

Kanpur, Jan 15 (PTI) The Uttar Pradesh government hassought credentials of a private doctor, who had first examineda 12-year-old sexual assault victim here and suspected thatshe was pregnant.

"The health department has sought details of Dr AbhaMishra''s medical career, her registration number and degrees.

It has also inquired that whether there is any complaint filedagainst the doctor," Chief Medical Officer Dr A K Mishra saidtoday.

Dr Abha was the first to medically examine the victim,who died later at a hospital, and suspected that the girl waspregnant after seeing blood and a lump of flesh at the spotwhere the minor was sexually assaulted, saying it looks as ifthis was a miscarriage.

Later, rubbishing the doctor''s statement aboutpregnancy, CB-CID in its inquiry report confirmed that theminor was sexually assaulted and died of excessive bleeding.

The CB-CID has filed a chargesheet against PiyushVerma, son of the manager of Bharatiya Gyan Sthali Schoolwhere incident took place, in the case and claimed that semenfound on the clothes of the victim was of him.

The incident occurred on September 27 when the12-year-old victim, a fourth standard student of Gyan Bharati,was sexually assaulted within the school premises.

The state government has also suspended Station HouseOfficer of Kalyanpur Anil Kumar for illegal detention andfalsification of records, Additional Superintendent of PoliceLal Bahadur and deputy SP L Mishra for acting against theprovisions of public conduct rulebook. An FIR was alsoregistered against the SHO.
