Two arrested, explosives held

Aizawl, Jan 15 (PTI) A large quantity of explosives,reportedly brought from Aizawl and bound for Lumding in Assam,were seized and two persons were arrested at the check gate inMizoram-Assam border at Vairengte, the police said today.

The explosives - 1,200 sticks of gelatin, 2,300detonators and 24 coils of fuse wire - worth around Rs onelakh were seized yesterday and two persons, both from Dimapurin Nagaland were arrested for possession of the explosives.

The explosives concealed in three rucksacks, threesuitcases and a steel trunk were being transported in a maxicab, the police said.
