Sankranti celebrated in Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad, Jan 15 (PTI) Harvest festival Sankranti wascelebrated today with pomp and traditional gaiety acrossAndhra Pradesh.
As part of "Sankranti Sambaralu", people decoratedtheir houses with colourful rangolis'', mango leaves andflowers. They also visited temples and performed specialpujas.
Hundreds of devotees visited the famous Saraswatitemple in Basara of Nizamabad district and offered prayers.
People in rural parts of coastal Andhra Pradeshparticipated in cock fights and sheep fights, while childrenand old-alike enjoyed themselves flying kites of severalshapes, sizes and designs in Hyderabad and other parts of thestate.
People also exchanged "til-gul" (a mixture of sesameseed and jaggery) as part of the festival.
