RARs 3600-cr needed to develop CST into world-class station
Nagpur, Jan 15 (PTI) The Central Railway has drawn upan ambitious Rs-3,600-crore plan to develop and upgrade theChhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) in Mumbai into aworld-class railway station with improved facilities.
The Railways would require Rs 1800-crore for overhaulingits existing facilities and an equal amount for creating newinfrastructure, Central Railway, General Manager, Kul Bhushantold reporters here yesterday.
He said the draft plan was ready and the Central Railwayauthorities will shortly meet the concerned Maharashtragovernment officials for giving a final touch to the draftagreement.
Once the CST station world class project is through,Central Railway will take up Pune and Nagpur for similarupgradation, he said.
The plan for CST envisages restoration of the heritagestation with world class amenities. Search for an investor inthe project is on, Bhushan said.
