Orissa should finance backward class students-Patnaik
Bhubaneswar, Jan 15 (PTI) Orissa should adopt a schemeto finance professional and technical education to studentsbelonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and otherbackward class in private institutions, said Justice A KPatnaik here today.
Justice Patnaik said this while delivering thestudents at the first convocation of Sikshya ''O'' AnusandhanUniversity here.
"The students who have merit but cannot afford thehigh fees of professinal and techinical education should begiven opportunities by the state government," Justice Patnaiksaid adding that Andhra Pradesh had made a scheme to supportaccess to quality eucation to thousands of poor studentsbelonging to ST, SC and OBC in selcted private corporatecolleges.
"Under the scheme, the annual fees of the students arereimbursed by the government directly to the privateprofessional and educational institutions," he pointed out.
