Bru refugees repatriation postponed today
Aizawl, Jan 15 (PTI) Third phase of repatriation ofBru refugees from Tripura, proposed to begin today waspostponed as most of the officials in Mizoram-Tripura borderMamit district were engaged in the launching of New Land UsePolice (NLUP), in all the district headquarters.
The process of identification of bona fide residentsof Mizoram among the refugees was completed late yesterday andtime was too limited to take back the refugees from today, theofficials said.
"The date for resumption of the repatriation wouldsoon be fixed and it might begin from January 18," oneofficial said.
Earlier, it was proposed that 150 families would berepatriated each day on January 15, 18 and 21
Almost 300 families, including around 200 families whoreturned on their own during the past few days, have returnedto Mizoram since the beginning of November last year.
