BJP seeks resignation of Goa home minister over drugs cases
Panaji, Jan 14 (PTI) BJP today demanded resignation ofGoa Home Minister Ravi Naik, in the wake of exposure ofdrug-related cases involving police officers.
State leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar demanded at apress conference here that all such cases should be handedover to CBI.
Saying that these cases have left the Congress-ledgovernment red-faced, Parrikar said Naik should resign owningresponsibility for the "mess".
In the last few months, Goa police have faced two cases,where police officers are suspected to be involved in drugtrade.
In one case, a police inspector was found to be mixed upwith drug cartel, while a former Superintendent of Police''sname figures in the other. Former head of anti-narcotic cellwas caught pushing drugs on video camera in one of the cases.
"State police can not do justice to these nexus cases, asmany of their own officials are involved in it...inquiryshould be done by impartial agency," Parrikar said, seekingCBI probe.
