Two officials of UP Power Corp arrested for accepting bribe

Muzaffarnagar, Jan 14 (PTI) Two officials, including anengineer, of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation were arrestedfor allegedly accepting bribe from farmers in separate cases,officials said.

Engineer Manoj Kumar of the department was arrestedyesterday on a tip-off for accepting the bribe of Rs 10,000from a Budhana town farmer here, District Magistrate SantoshKumar said.

In a separate case, clerk Madan Gupta was arrested foraccepting the bribe from a farmer, Kumar said.

The two had demanded bribe for replacing tube welltransformers, Kumar said.

They had been arrested under the Prevention ofCorruption Act.
