Tata Comm appoints Vinod Kumar as Managing Director and CEO

Mumbai, Jan 13 (PTI) Tata Communications todayannounced the appointment of Vinod Kumar as its new ManagingDirector and CEO.

Kumar, who will take charge from February 1, replacesN Srinath who has been appointed as the Managing Director andCEO at Tata Teleservices and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra),a press release issued here stated.

Srinath would, however, continue to be theNon-Executive Director on the Board of Tata Communications andsome of its subsidiary/associate companies like Neotel, itsaid.

A graduate from BITS, Pilani, Kumar had joined TataCommunications in April 2004 and was closely associated withthe acquisitions of TGN and Teleglobe.

He had also assumed responsibility as ManagingDirector of the company�s international operations, therelease said.

Kumar was subsequently promoted as the Chief OperatingOfficer, and was currently managing the Global Data BusinessUnit as well as the Engineering and Operations functions ofthe company.

Srinath, who would also be assuming the newresponsibility from February 1, had joined Tata Communicationsin 2002 as Director (Operations) when the Tata Group wasselected as the strategic partner at the company.

In February 2007, he was appointed as the ManagingDirector and CEO in February 2007 of the company, the releasesaid.
