Several transferred Building Dept officials yet to shift
New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) The MCD had transferred 184officials out of its much-maligned Building Department afterthe east Delhi house collapse but a number of them are yet toshift.
Municipal Commissioner K S Mehra has now written tothe deputy commissioners of all MCD Zones to trace officialsfrom their Building Department who have not moved out andsubmit a report in this regard.
"The report is likely to come tomorrow," a seniorofficial said today.
After a multi-storeyed building with two illegalfloors collapsed in Lalita Park in east Delhi killing 71people, the MCD Building Department faced much flak overunchecked growth of unauthorised constructions. MCD has sincethen transferred 184 Building Department officials who facecorruption cases.
Chairman of MCD Works Committee Jagdish Mamgain saidabout a dozen officials from the department have refused toleave. The rest have left and their posts have been filled byofficials from other department, he said.
