NCB seizes hashish worth Rs 1.15 crore
Mumbai, Jan 13 (PTI) Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)officials today claimed to have busted an inter-state drugsracket with the arrest of five men, including two hailing fromJammu and Kashmir; and seized 23 kg of hashish worth Rs 50lakh in the local market and Rs 1.15 crore in theinternational market.
State police too had seized hashish originating from theJammu and Kashmir in another operation two days ago.
Liyaqat Ali Bhat (20), Manzoor Ahmed Dar (26) (bothresidents of Jammu and Kashmir), Rasik Devraj (52), PrakashSoni (34) and Madhi Nadar (46) were arrested from neighbouringThane and the contraband was seized from their vehicle.
Yashodhan Wanage, Zonal director of NCB, said that a traphad been laid on the night of January 10, and a Maruti 800 carwas intercepted on January 11, at 1.30 am, near HotelFountain.
"Upon search, it was found that packets containing ballsof hashish were concealed in rear seat of the car. Thecontraband, and the vehicle with Rajasthan registration numberwere seized," he added. .
