Chartered plane makes emergency landing in Kolkata

Kolkata, Jan 13 (PTI) A chartered plane of DeccanCharters airline made an emergency landing at the N S C BInternational airport here this evening, with 21 on board,minutes before its scheduled arrival from Jamshedpur.

Airport sources said as the pilot informed the AirTraffic Control (ATC) about engine glitches on way to thecity airport, it was allowed to land half an hour beforeschedule with "full emergency procedures".

While all other incoming/outgoing flights were stoppedduring that time, standard emergency measures were in placewith CISF, police and airport officials on stand by, thesources said.

The 18 passengers and three crew members all came outsafely after the landing, they said.

This was the second time in a fortnight that a Deccanchartered flight from Jamshedpur made an emergency landing atthe airport. On December 24 last year, a chartered plane ofthe airline met with a similar fate.
