Regulatory bodies have failed to check corruption: Naidu

Vijayawada, Jan 12 (PTI) TDP chief Chandrababu Naidutoday alleged that both regulatory bodies and investigatingagencies had failed to check corruption in the country.

"Vigilance and Enforcement Departments, CBI have totallyfailed to act against the people involved in corruption andscams," he said talking to reporters here.

Naidu, who is on a visit to cyclone affected areas here,said it was necessary to enact a new anti-corruption law,whereas the existing Revenue Recovery Act could be used toseize properties of corrupt people.

Because of the corruption, development has come tostandstill, and welfare schemes are not reaching the rightpeople, he said.

On inflation, Naidu said government should imposerestrictions on the export of essential commodities.

Naidu, however, evaded questions on whether he expectedmid-term polls in the state, or whether his party would bringa no-confidence motion against the state government.

Without taking names, Naidu alleged that former CongressMP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had amassed huge assets during hisfather Y S Rajasekhara Reddy''s tenure as Chief Minister andwas using the money to indulge in horse-trading.
