Industry gets fillip from central excise package: Slathia

Jammu, Jan 13 (PTI) Set to give further fillip to theindustrial sector in Jammu and Kashmir, State government hasreceived a shot in arm with the grant of 10 years extensionof central excise package and refund on value addition for thestate from central government.

State''s Minister for Industries and commerce, S S Slathiatoday said the government will leave no stone unturned toexpand base of industries, which he said has thrown up ampleemployment opportunities.

Responding to the demands of industrialists, whichincluded revival of sick units, the Minister assured thattheir pending issues will be taken up with the Chief Minister,Omar Abdullah and simultaneously Ministers for Forest andLabour will be involved in the process so that the longpending issues are resolved.

The Minister enjoined upon the industrialists to ensurethe absorption of at least 50 per cent local unskilled labourin their respective units.

He said the cooperation by the industrial units wouldsupplement the Government''s efforts to tackle the unemploymentproblem in the state.

He further said that extension of the benefits undercentral Excise Package has become possible with keen interestevinced by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by frequentlytaking up the matter with Prime Minister and Finance Minister.

Slathia further said the provident fund issue of labourand employment will be taken up with the Finance departmentshortly.

He directed the Executive Engineer PDD Samba to releasethe Subsidy amount on Genset on regular basis.
