Hostel superintendent inflicts burn injuries on tribal girl
Shahdol (MP), Jan 12 (PTI) An eight-year tribal girlsuffered burns after her hostel superintendent allegedlybranded her with a hot iron rod as punishment here, officialssaid today.
District Collector Niraj Dubey today suspended thetribal hostel superintendent, Anita Sant, after an initialprobe report into the incident was submitted to him by TribalWelfare Assistant Commissioner Anand Mishra, they said.
Sushila Singh, a student of Class 3, left the hostelfor home at village Gohparu on January 4 stating she wasunwell. On the following day, her parents noticed burninjuries on her body.
Her parents Shekhlal and Seema asked the girl aboutthe injuries and she told them her hostel superintendent hadplaced a hot iron rod on her body on January 3. They lodged acomplaint with the Collector on January 6.
The hostel superintendent was angry with Sushila afterher parents lodged a complaint with the authorities a few daysago stating that Sant was ill-treating students, sources closeto the family said.
A detailed probe into the incident was on, theofficials added.
