CBI pulled up by Special Court for slow progress in 1994 case
Muzaffarnagar Jan 13 (PTI) A special CBI court today tooka serious view of the agency''s failure to prosecute theaccused in a 17-year-old case of police firing on unarmedUttarakhand activists.
Special magistrate P N Pandey issued letter to theCentral Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Amar PratapSingh complaining that the CBI failed to produce permissionpapers from state government to prosecute the accused policeofficials.
Eight police officials, including three personnel whowere then Station House Officers, are facing charges offabricating police records after implicating fake casesagainst Uttarakhand activists.
The activists, part of the agitation for separate stateof Uttarakhand, were going to Delhi to stage a protest at RajGhat on Gandhi Jayanti when police allegedly fired at them inMuzaffarnagar on the night of October 1, 1994.
