17 peacocks found dead in AP district
Karimnagar (AP), Jan 13 (PTI) As many as seventeenpeacocks were found dead in Karimnagar district of AndhraPradesh, forest officials said today.
The peacocks were found dead yesterday on the outskirtsof Indiranagar and Gopalpur villages under Elkathurthy policelimits, nearly 50 kms from here, Karimnagar Divisional ForestOfficer (DFO), Priyanka Verghese said.
The cause of the deaths might be consumption ofcontaminated water from nearby agricultural fields, wherefarmers use a lot of insecticides for crop protection, shesaid.
Postmortem reports are awaited and investigations are on,only after which a clear picture will emerge, the DFO said.
