Jagan's new party - Rajanna Rajyam launched
The action was considered a move by the Jagan camp to flex their muscles and was regarded as a show of power. The move also led to mild shock waves hitting Andhra politics with close to 24 MLAs and 2 MPs supporting Jagan.
Late evening yesterday, saw a new twist in the murky political games when Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to name his party 'Rajanna Rajyam'. The news was available only in prominent Telugu news channels. There were rumors doing the rounds earlier on the other probable names for the party like the Jagans Party, YSR party, Rajasekhar Reddy party, YSR congress party etc....But the final verdict has nailed the name to 'Rajanna Rajyam' and will be formally launched in February.
The office-bearers have been pronounced and include Y. V. Subba Reddy (President), S. Ramakrishna Reddy (Vice President), D. Sivasankar Reddy (General Secretary), T. Viswanatha Reddy (Joint Secretary) and K. Srinivas Naidu (Treasurer).
There was high drama in Jantar Mantar, Delhi where Jagan was fasting yesterday. The Delhi police had to arrest him when he continued to fast even after sunset. Jagan along with his supporters dramatically walked to the nearest police station to be arrested, but was later released within minutes.
