The Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) declared a general bandh at many places in Telangana region on Friday, to protest against Srikrishna committee report over the statehood issue.
The protesting students tried to hold a rally at the varsity campus, which later turned violent when the police stationed there tried to stop them. They also pelted stones at the assembled police. To control the situation, police had to lob teargas shells to disseminate the agitated students.
As part of the protest the pro-Telangana activist formed human chains and held huge rallies in Karimnagar, Adilabad, Warangal, Nalgonda, Medak and Nizambad districts of Telangana region and burnt copies of the Committee report.
