Around 3600 Kannadigas sing to set world record in Bangalore
Bangalore, Dec.31 (ANI): Around 3600 Kannadigas from different parts of the world sang folk songs in an event to attempt a world record in Bangalore.
On Thursday, participants from Dubai, Australia, Canada and the USA took part in the event.
Kekeri Krishnamurthy, the chief musician of the event, said Limca Book of Records has agreed to mark the event as a record and the organisers will send it's recording to Guinness World Record too.
"This is an international event. These singers (are) not only from Karnataka or not only from school, these are from all over the world, 13 different countries, 30 states and 130 districts. So, this is the first time in the history," said Krishnamurthy.
"So, I want to recommend, send this CD to Guinness Books of Records also. Limca Book of Records definitely, they have already given their consent. So, this is going to Limca Book of Records," she added.
Nagesh Desai, the creative director, said seeing the overwhelming response, he was certain the event would find a mention in the Guinness World Records.
"All the musicians across Karnataka and across the world. So, that is the one part and today we have seen such a big programme, over 15-20 thousand (audience). It will definitely become Limca record," said Desai.
The musicians and singers had spent nine months rehearsing for the event.
Over 20 thousand people gathered to witness the initiative to popularise folk music and Kannada language across world.
"Its amazing to hear over 3000 Kannada songs. We really enjoyed. Everybody should hear and enjoy Kannada songs," said Uma Ramesh, a spectator.
