Gujjars on rail track for 5pc govt job quota

Jaipur, Dec 21: The Gujjar community in Rajasthan once again raised their voice for the reservation of 5 percent quota in government jobs. But this time they started their protest on rail tracks which created chaos at the rail traffic.

As a result on Tuesday, Dec 21, 25 trains on the Kota-Mathura line have been diverted.

"We are going to stay on this track till social justice is imparted to us in deeds and respect," stated one of the Gujjar leader on Dec 21.

"We have been cheated three times, we have lost the faith...this is a very important rally route and we did not want to block it but we have been forced into it," the leader added.

In 2007 and 2008 also, the community protested for the same demand for a special job quota or Schedule tribe status.
