President Patil to give away national awards for disabled persons
New Delhi, Dec 2 (ANI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil will give away the National Awards for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, 2010 here tomorrow.
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has been giving away the National Awards for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities every year.
The awards were initially instituted in the year 1969 for giving away to the outstanding employers of person with disabilities as well as the most outstanding employees.
However, keeping in view the changing scenario, the Scheme of National Awards have been reviewed and revised from time to time and various new categories of awards have been introduced.
In accordance with the existing scheme of National Awards for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, a total of 63 awards are available under the 13 broad categories which includes best employees/self-employed with disabilities, best creative child with disabilities, best Braille press and best accessible website.
