Women khadi weavers a huge draw at Delhi's Trade Fair
New Delhi, Nov.26 (ANI): Women weavers from Andhra Pradesh who are here to participate in the India International Trade Fair 2010 are a big draw.
They are demonstrating a step-by-step procedure of the fabric, starting from cleaning of cotton.
The workers are from Andhra Pradesh's Ponduru district and have become the centre of attraction as customers took keen interest in their labour.
The India International Trade Fair has provided a boost in sales after many buyers learned about the products.
"We have earned about one million which means people are interested. Otherwise we would not have had such heavy sales. There are few more days left so the sale can go higher," said Udaya Kumar, a dealer.
Khadi work from Andhra Pradesh has been largely neglected with regard to wages earned by women.
"Wages of these workers are too less. As of now, there are some women workers who can't go out of house to work so they depend on their husband's earnings. So, these women take cotton from the administration and at home they make the product," said Gutta Usha, a stall owner from Andhra Pradesh. (ANI)
